Wheelchair Skills Training is an established and successful service at Whizz-Kidz, integral to the charity's Life Journey approach of providing equipment, advice, support and training for disabled children up to the age of 18. Last year, their network of 16 contracted trainers trained 240 children between the ages of 2 and 18 to use their wheelchairs more effectively. In 2008, they aim to double the number of children they train, and are looking to recruit more trainers to help them achieve this important goal.
Trainers are expected to deliver between 1 and 10 week's training a year, in a variety of locations in their region. Full induction to Whizz-Kidz is given, along with thorough training and support.
Trainers are employed by Whizz-Kidz on a freelance worker basis, paid hourly and responsible for their own tax, National Insurance and Social Security contributions.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, or would like to apply, contact Sharon Letori on 020 8133 922 or 07515 681443. Aternatively, you can email whizz-kidz@southwestdev.org
