The visitor centre includes a museum which houses an interesting array of artefacts dating back to the Gaol’s early years. Most of the complex is open to visitors who are welcome to take a tour of the Gaol and inspect the cellblocks, condemned cells, surgery, induction centre, through into exercise yards, the hanging tower and graves area.

The tours are wheel chair accessible.

Toilets:

There are accessible toilets, but no grab rails.

Vehicle:

Plenty of parking, but no dedicated spaces.

Bus:

There is a frequent bus service from the city to the Gaol Road/Port Road intersection, from there it is a short walk from Bus Stop 1 to the Gaol.
