The historic chair was carved out of a rock ledge for Mrs Macquarie, whose husband was Governor of Sydney from 1810 to 1821.
Access:
There is no wheelchair access to Mrs Macquaries Chair from the nearby carpark. The only point of wheelchair access is the pathway adjacent to Boy Charlton Swimming Pool. Take the lower pathway and travel 500 metres.
Vehicle:
There is no designated accessible car parks at Lady Macquaries Chair. There are no kerb ramps from the road to the footpath
Bus:
A bus interchange is located opposite Circular Quay on Alfred Street. Wheelchair accessible buses operate on routes 390, 392, 393, 399 (Circular Quay to Kingsford and Prince Henry Hospital); route 888 (City shuttle service between Circular Quay & Pyrmont). Another wheelchair accessible bus operates on route 441 (Balmain District to Art Gallery via Town Hall). The Art Gallery is adjacent to the Botanic Gardens.Sydney Explorer Bus (non wheelchair) stop 5 is adjacent to the Mrs Macquaries Chair.
Train:
The nearest accessible train station is Circular Quay (easy access). The Botanic Gardens are adjacent to this station.
