Set high on the Harbour, next to the Opera House and the Royal Botanic Gardens, lie the magnificent gardens and buildings of Government House. Government House was built between 1837 and 1845.

Access:

There is level entry to get into the grounds from the Botanic Gardens. There is ramp access to the ground floor (only) of Government House, via a portable ramp at the rear of the building. All pathways are accessible. Assistance:There are large print brochures, braille, and tactile maps available from the Chief Guide. Vehicle:

Accessible car parking at the Sydney Opera House Carpark, entry at the end of Macquarie Street. Accessible carparking at 117 Macquarie Street Carpark, entry off Macquarie Street. A taxi rank is located on Alfred Street, opposite Circular Quay.

Bus:

A bus interchange is located opposite Circular Quay on Alfred Street. Wheelchair accessible buses operate on routes 390, 392, 393, 399 (Circular Quay to Kingsford and Prince Henry Hospital); route 888 (City shuttle service between Circular Quay & Pyrmont). Another wheelchair accessible bus operates on route 441 (Balmain District to Art Gallery via Town Hall). Sydney Explorer Bus (non-wheelchair) stops 2 is adjacent to Government House.

Train:

The nearest accessible train station is Circular Quay (easy access). Government House is adjacent to this station.
