Located in the heart of the Sydney CBD and with a capacity of 1,183 patrons, it has played host to a range of theatrical entertainment including high quality musicals, dramas and comedies.
Access:
There is wheelchair entry from King Street to the Box office (level 6 of MLC Centre). The box office has good access, is well lit, clearly defined and is close to the entrance. Use the lift inside the MLC Centre to access the Dress Circle on level 7. Phone ahead to organise arrival (Ph. 02 9224 8444).
NOTE: "Kudos to the Theatre staff they looked after us very well".
Seating:
There are wheelchair seating spaces in the theatre, but no hearing loop.
Toilets:
Use the accessible toilet on level 7 (theatre level).
NOTE: "The disabled toilets are inside the standard Male/Female toilets. The doors are hard to push . In my case I had to wheel my wife , an MS sufferer, the length of the Female cubicles to the disabled toilet at the far end , hardly comfortable for any one concerned."
Vehicle:
There is a valet carpark under MLC Centre (& theatre). A lift accesses the theatre from the carpark. There is a taxi rank on King St, near the theatre & MLC Centre.
NOTE: "There is no stopping allowed for taxis on the Theatre side of King
Street and I don't recall seeing a taxi stand opposite."
Bus:
Wheelchair accessible bus on route 441 (Balmain District to QVB); route 100 (Dee Why, City, Airport); route 178 (Dee Why to Town Hall); route 175 (Warringah Mall to Town Hall), route 888 (QVB to Circular Quay).
Monorail:
From Central Station, take Monorail to City Centre Station. Use lift or stairs to Pitt St level (near corner of Pitt & Market) - travel 200 metres.
